A Resolution Reaffirming God as the Foundation of America's Moral Code, Laws and National Heritage
WHEREAS, our Government was founded upon a trust in God, that began when our Founding Fathers proclaimed in America's first official document, our Declaration of Independence, that our rights to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness", were not given to us by government, but by God "our Creator", the "Sovereign Judge of the Universe", and.....
WHEREAS, it is a fact that the vast majority of those who drafted and signed the US Constitution had a strong belief and trust in God, and never ever intended that there be a separation between God and the affairs of Government, only that all citizens would be protected from laws that would prevent the freedom of religion to worship, or not to worship as each individual chooses, and... WHEREAS, historically our Government has acknowledged God on our National Currency, in our Pledge of Allegiance, in our National Motto "In God We Trust", and other acknowledgments of God appearing on many of this Nation's greatest Monuments, Memorials, and buildings, including the Ten Commandments, represented in the U.S. Supreme Court Building, BE IT RESOLVED by the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate concurring, that the acknowledgment of God, especially in public institutions, coupled with our individual religious freedoms are the very Foundation of Our National Heritage, and therefore must be preserved..... |
